Local Artist: Elizabeth Chapin
by Taylor Browning
I came across local Austin artist, Elizabeth Chapin while reading this post on Apartment Therapy that featured a house tour of a home in Hyde Park–my neighborhood in Austin, Texas. I loved the way the home was decorated and especially loved the painting sitting above the fireplace. I read on to discover that the artist is a friend of the homeowner, Nancy Mims, who is the designer and creative director for Mod Green Pod, a hip and swanky wallpaper and textiles company. I tracked down Chapin’s website and fell in love with her painting style–bold use of color, texture, and pattern and a unique approach to portraiture. I was unable to post any images from her website, but I highly recommend you check them out for yourself by clicking here.

OMG I love this post from AT. I also went to the artist’s website to look at her other artworks but this painting is no doubt her best work. It completely dominates the entire room, wish I could have a painting like this for my fireplace.
Happy new year
My husband was googling my name while setting up his computer and came across your blog. Thanks so much for the kind mention–I really appreciate it!!
Your welcome, Elizabeth!! I’m glad the virtual world connected us…see ya ’round town
